We were engaged by a private equity client who had completed a bolt-on acquisition within the plant hire sector of the built environment and was seeking support with post-acquisition integration.
Solution delivered:
We initially spent time with the Operating and Investment partners of the fund, to understand the work done to date on the investment and the overall aims of the buy and build centred on the investment thesis.
Based on this, we agreed a scope of works and deliverables to support integration contained within a timelined plan that focused on the people, the growth drivers, the operations and the financial elements of the combined portfolio business.
Discovery sessions were then undertaken on site with the portfolio business teams, to evaluate what was already in place with a view to ‘observing, testing and, where appropriate, implementing’ existing practices, or devising collaboratively new processes with the existing team in the business, which would then be implemented as scalable foundations upon which the business could grow. Cadence around delivering and monitoring both hard and soft synergies were also put in place.
Working alongside the teams, the workstreams identified within the timelined plan were delivered, with time spent ‘winning the hearts and minds’ of the teams within the business.
Results achieved:
As a result of the work undertaken, the integration of the bolt on acquisition was accelerated and time-lined synergies tracked and delivered.
