We were approached by the European office of a global consultancy that was looking to understand the UK building products distribution market as part of an assignment they were undertaking for their client.

Following their initial approach, we discussed the specific aims of their client’s assignment to determine how best we could support and tailor the discussion.
We discussed the overall addressable market and helped them to map the key stakeholders that operated within it, together with their characteristics and attributes.
To add colour to this, the discussion highlighted the macro environment, including relevant industry data points and forecasts, such as Builders’ Merchant Building Index indices and Construction Products Association forecasts.
Of particular interest to the client was the market segmentation, so time was spent outlining the key players (including nationals, big box and fixed price merchants, as well as regional independents) and their characteristics and attributes and the market segments they serve including RMI and newbuild.
Results achieved:
Based on these discussions our client was able to undertake their assignment and, during the course of its completion, we were able to support them with subsequent discussions and deliverables based on their findings.
