Merchants, Suppliers & Buying Groups

We are a specialist Building Materials Distribution consultancy whose clients include family-run builders’, timber and plumbers’ merchants, distributors and buying groups.

Supporting the merchant sector

Our clients include family run builders’, timber and plumbers’ merchants, as well as distributors (often owned over many generations), suppliers, manufacturing businesses and buying groups, many of whom are members of the Builders’ Merchants Federation (BMF).

For builders’ merchants we support them in all parts of the merchant lifecycle, predominantly based around helping them achieve growth within their business. We consider every business strategically, helping the owners to understand what they want to achieve with their business and helping them to put a plan together to take those goals forward. Then, operationally, we support and mentor them in turning that strategy into reality.

At Moorgate we work alongside our clients’ existing teams, helping them to help themselves, whether that be growth through acquisition or greenfield, helping them to turn their business around if they haven’t achieved the growth that they wished, or by preparing their business for exit.

Chris Maityard, CEO of Moorgate Management

We are also proud to be a supporter and Service Member of both the Builders’ Merchants Federation, and the National Merchant Buying Society.
